These days, most Decks are built using wood frame and wood flooring panels that are supported by either a solid concrete foundation or concrete piers for the appropriate support. Wood Decks also tend to have railing surrounding the perimeter, which is usually also made of wood, steel or ornate iron. Wood floor panels do require annual maintenance with an oil-based stain for better protection, although it is worth looking into newer synthetic or composite wood panels that are maintenance free, yet more costly.
